Nearbyers is an adults-only proximity app with no accounts, advertising, or developer-operated backend. This policy explains the data handled by the app, nearby devices, Google Play services, and user-initiated report emails.
Also see the Nearbyers Terms of Use and Child Safety Standards.
The Nearbyers developer does not automatically receive your profile, photo, messages, contacts, precise location, or app activity. There are no developer-added analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
If you choose to send a report or support email, the developer receives the email address, contents, and app-supplied report details shown in your email app. Nothing is sent to the developer until you choose to send that email.
Your random profile ID, card, photo, chats, mutual-chat state, block list, and settings are stored in the app's private storage. Nearbyers opts out of Android cloud backup.
Erase my card and start over clears local app state; blocking deletes that person's saved conversation; uninstalling or clearing app data removes it from that phone. Some Android manufacturers may still support a direct old-phone-to-new-phone transfer that does not pass through Nearbyers servers.
When your beacon is on, your random profile ID and the card fields you created are sent over Google Nearby Connections to Nearbyers users in radio range. A photo marked hidden is withheld until you accept that person's chat. Chat requests and messages go only to the nearby recipient devices involved. This data is not routed through a Nearbyers server.
Recipients can save or copy what you share, so do not put sensitive information on your card or in messages.
Google states that its Google Play services Nearby SDK collects usage analytics for Google: discovery and connection performance metrics plus device model, country, build version, and the app package name. Google also states that users can control this collection under Android Settings → Google → Usage & diagnostics. The Nearbyers developer does not receive this diagnostics stream. See Google's Nearby Connections data collection disclosure.
Nearby devices, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi enable radio discovery and connections. Android 12 and older can require Location permission for Bluetooth scanning; Nearbyers does not read GPS, derive your location, track movement, or transmit location. Notifications alert you locally to nearby activity, requests, and messages.
Google Nearby Connections encrypts device-to-device connections. Local data is protected by Android's app sandbox. A report email is handled by your chosen email provider and the developer's email provider, so their security and retention practices also apply.
Local data remains until you erase it, block the relevant person, clear app data, or uninstall as described above. Report and support emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed to investigate, protect users, and meet legal obligations, then deleted. You can request deletion of an email you sent, subject to any legal need to retain it, using the contact below.
Nearbyers is only for people aged 18 or older and is not directed to children. Child sexual abuse and exploitation are strictly prohibited and reports are handled under the published Child Safety Standards.
If the architecture ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page before shipping that change and revise the date above.
Nearbyers is independently developed and published under the Nearbyers app name. Privacy questions or deletion requests: imadethisjustforthis124124@gmail.com
